Fancy forensics show Probie and Abby -behind Gibbs' back- the warning's deliverer: Viggo Drantyev, a fancy fake identity. It came from Decker's young heiress Sasha Gordon, as he instructed without further details; she's found dead shortly after. Jenny is secretly tailed by Tony and Zhiva, her semi-official bodyguards, who pretended to enjoy a day off when dismissed after the funeral, even retraced after she formally tells them off which Tony wanted to accept, but find desert racks hard to follow. Meanwhile Gibbs keeps investigating the laGrenouille case.

About Face

Construction workers on a Navy yard discover a body in an elevator. During forensic examination Jimmy Palmer says and follows a man who grabs the victim Rick Baxter's false passport and shoots at Jimmy. Ducky finds he had a non-lethal blow on the head, could well have phoned before falling to his death. Palmer feels terrible for his unmanly, yet life-saving dive and has a hard time trying to reconstruct the face, identify the passport nationality or remember he name on it, even under hypnosis, but his ability to recognize still proves vital. The site also contains an older corps, buried in concrete, and traces of copper theft, which is confessed to by Enis Watley, who however didn't attack Jimmy. Abby reconstructs the 'mummy', with surprising results.

Recoil

May 6, 2008

The NCIS is closing up on Marine Andrew 'Andy' Hoffman, a serial killer of women, before local police detective Steve Rosetti's nose. Hoffman catches on while Ziva is with him undercover as Gina, but she struggles free and shoots him with his own gun. An MO anomaly and a fingerprint indicate there must be an accomplice. Ziva forgets her 'trauma' in bed with original suspect Michael Locke, whose former girlfriend Devon fits the profile of the sixth victim Abby discovers to exist from blood traces on the knife, so Andy's partner may still be killing. Another surprising link is discovered, another avenues of suspicion is explored.

The main suspects are Gibbs, who had opportunity during an operation with Tony and Kate, and Jethro's ex - the NCIS director, who had a motive after a private investigation of her pa's suicide and is also suspended. Fornell also interrogates Ducky and McGee, aware of their connections and plausible parts. Once they are released but forbidden to sleuth the case, Gibbs decides to 'investigate the FBI' from his home. Tony is accused of the murder after his frustrating orders to seduce daughter Jeanne Benoit.

Dog Tags

April 15, 2008

McGee is bitten and wounds a German shepherd dog in self defense. The team tracked down a missing suspect: petty officer Kyle Hanson, the Pax River US Navy base's drugs enforcement unit dog handler. He was killed at least 36 hours earlier by his own dog, Butch; they find cash and cocaine. Jimmy Palmer's veterinary summer job now pays off. Abby sides unconditionally with the dog she re-baptizes Jethro. Desperate to prove that the 'cute puppy' is innocent she even 'kidnaps' him to trace a flea that might incriminate another dog, but he escapes on the base and digs up another dog's corps. There is also a Panamanian drug contact, Diego Galante. Grilling Hanson's five unit colleagues seems unproductive; then petty officer Pete Bidwell is found murdered inside a cargo plain, badly staged as a loading accident. Finally the dog has an interesting health crisis.

Tribes

January 15, 2008

Ducky chooses to honor the imam's religious plea by refusing to perform an autopsy but is ordered by the director, despite horrible Bosnian mass grave memories, then thinks up an unorthodox alternative method, which reveals Abdul was hit by a needle poisoned with rare octopus venom... Abby finds traces of explosives on Abdul and of contact with Al Qaeda centers on Abdul's computer, including its mysterious German recruiter Hans Staiger. An attempt to bug the mosque reveals it's already bugged by the FBI, but Special Agent Brent Langer refuses to give any details. 09Season 5

Lost and Found

November 20, 2007

When McGee brings his Youth Rangers troop on a tour to the NCIS lab, to Abby's surprise young Carson Taylor's fingerprints are registered as a missing kid under the name Carson Matthews. The boy's adored cool dad, real name Brian Taylor, who gives wilderness survival classes professionally, adopted his present -fake- identity two months after Carson's biological mother drowned and remarried USNavy Lieutenant Elaine Taylor. Abby has lots of fun 'babysitting' the bright boy, Gibbs gets his ex NCIS Director Jenny Shepard to take temporary custody, thus sparing Carson an institutional Social Services stay. Alas Brian is wanted for robbery and murder, Elaine knew his identity was false and loyal son Carson tips dad he's searched. The man-hunt proves eventful, especially because of another accomplice...

Designated Target

November 13, 2007

Rear Admiral Kenneth Kirkland and his cab driver Atif Nukunda are shot in the cab by masked men in the park. There's no motive to kill the admiral, but the driver was smeared with finger print lotion and a tooth was drawn: for certain identification: the target was Atif, an illegal Burundese immigrant, cabbie and jazz musician. Waverly University professor African studies Delphin Abaka explains Atif used a pseudonym, but ignores his real name. Atif's recently arrived widow- isn't, it's another body, her husband Thomas Zuri is a political refugee under terrorist threat, who left the State Department's protection for information program five years ago. There are more similar attacks on cabs, with a common link...

Requiem

November 6, 2007

Marine brat Maddie Tylor, in college, best base friend of Gibbs's late daughter Kelly, asks his help against Marine Sergeant Rudi Haas, who she claims is stalking her since he returned from Iraq with unreturned romantic intentions. Gibbs literally twist Haas's arm, but shortly after he fails to prevent her being abducted from her home in Haas' car. Former Army Major Max Bourdais's security firm recently recruited Haas. When the team finds Haas, it's a corps nailed to the floor to torture him extensively, murdered before the kidnapping, but died within minutes from extreme seafood allergy; Maddie's place was trashed, presumably the murderers got her address from Haas. Haas's car GPS was tracked by Bourdais's firm; Special Inspector-general for Iraqi Reconstructions representative Marine Colonel Stacey Radcliffe confirm two other firm employees, Danny Coyle and Judd, were suspected of a $4,000,000 theft there...

Chimera

October 30, 2007

Gibb's team is dropped by helicopter on the USNS Chimera, a top-secret 'non-existent' Navy research ship, where Lt. Cmdr. Satoshi Takada just died, and the rest of the crew fled. According to Duckie's first findings the death cause is a rapidly killing viral, possibly hemorrhagic disease, probably contagious by air: they must put themselves in quarantine with bleak survival perspectives, fighting panic among 'biohazard' signs and hard to break security... and then find they may not be alone after all. Commander Skinner, the ship's superior, is most protective of its secrets, even at the expense of extreme health risks, so the NCIS director engages a long, yet urgent battle with him for literally vital information, which ultimately reveals unexpected other dangers for the team...

05Season 5

Leap of Faith

October 23, 2007

His last phone call was with someone in the NCS building. Getting closer proves physically dangerous for the team...

04Season 5

Identity Crisis

October 16, 2007

When Duckie performs an educational autopsy, the cadaver's brain leaks a trace of murder: injected mercury. The victim is an unidentified black man, presumably a drunk drifter circa 50 years old, with plenty of scars and tattoos, suggesting a prison past; the Army doctor, Jordon Hampton, swamped in corpses, missed it all. Gibbs' NCIS team goes to Highland Beach, where he was found, and bumps into FBI Special Agent Courtney Krieger, who tells it was Marvin Hinton: he was working with the Bureau after six years in jail, had his previous identity Frederic LeClair erased expertly, she was after the Eraser, expecting he would be contacted to get a new identity. Krieger seems to pull Tony out of his romantic lethargy, but Ziva thinks her compulsive neatness fits the profile of the killer. Gibbs learns from her superior, Senior FBI Agent T.C. Fornell, that the Eraser is only known by the name Kamal Konkani...

01Season 5

Bury Your Dead

September 25, 2007

Gibbs and McGee conclude that the CIA was countering their investigation for LaGrenouille at the director's expense so he probably is their agent, but Abby sees she failed to delete the result of the identity check: her father who was presumed dead. Then she discloses that Tony DiNozzo is on assignment dating the spy's daughter, Dr. Jeanne Benoit. Shortly after DiNozzo's car explodes, Ducky's autopsy proves the burned corps isn't Tony. Shortly after, another survivor turns up at NCIS...
