Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up, and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the ‘80s. For geeky 11-year old Adam (Sean Giambrone) these were hiswonder years and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy. Erica attempts to educate Beverly about how to vote. Barry is determined to prove his athletic prowess.
Beverly finds out that Adam is failing his Spanish class. Barry gets a job to try and impress Murray.
During his birthday sleepover Beverly has planned, Adam’s friend Garry shares his dad’s home brewed beer and gets everyone sick. Many of the parents believe Adam is a bad influence and forbid his friends from hanging out with him. Meanwhile, Murray tells Barry and Erica he will buy a new CD player only if they are able to write the greatest song ever. What they write is horrible but when Murray hears the song, he recognizes Erica’s singing talent and her love of music.
When Erica gets inspired to put college on hold, in favor of pursuing a singing career, Beverly is worried Erica will be disappointed her dream will not come true. Beverly puts Murray up to the task to have a talk about her future with a surprising result. Meanwhile, Adam and Barry get into an epic war that starts as an April Fools’ joke but ends with more repercussion.
Adam becomes lost in the stadium whilst attending a Phillies game with Murray.
Dana and Adam's assignment to parent a doll ends up being compromised by Beverly. Erica attempts to get back at Barry.
Barry pretends that he is ill so that he can have an epic day off but not everything goes as planned.
When Murray takes Erica's car privileges away, Erica and Barry retaliate by buying their own shabby used black van. Meanwhile, Adam gets voted in the yearbook as "nicest guy," which results in a suspension when he objects.
Beverly has trouble accepting Adam deep feelings for Dana; Lainey and Barry convince Murray to watch football with Lainey's dad.
As the Sadie Hawkins dance approaches, Erica asks Beverly to help her find Barry a date to keep him away from Lainey. But Beverly comes up with a girl that shocks everyone. Meanwhile, Adam gets into a fight with his best friend...Pops.
Beverly is ordered to clean out the garage by Murray, who wants everything gone except for one trunk that he's particularly sentimental about. Meanwhile, Adam and Barry discover Erica's old collection of New Kids on the Block memorabilia.

It is the Goldberg Thanksgiving and Beverly and Erica both want to be this year's host. Uncle Marvin pays a visit and Murray gets annoyed after Marvin and Adam grow closer.
Beverly causes Mr. Meller to be fired for singling out Adam during dodgeball. She ends up fighting for him to be rehired though. Barry finds it hard to deal with the fact that Erica is better than him at Trivial Pursuit.
Pops accidentally starts a fire in his apartment during a Halloween party. Barry wants something in return from Erica.
Adam accidentally gets Barry kicked out of a group of cool kids at school.
The upcoming wedding of Prince Charles and Diana inspire Beverly to organize a vow renewal for herself and Murray. Barry and Adam create a garage band.
Adam attempts to secure a major part in the school musical but gets cast in a non-leading role. Beverly then offers him a part in a competing show. Barry is not happy with Murray's habit of leaving sporting events early to avoid traffic.
Adam creates a mix tape for Dana, but it ends up falling into Beverly's hands instead. Barry is caught with a fake ID.
